Only 3.8% of businesses use AI in production! 🤯
The US Census Bureau claims that only 3.8% of businesses are using AI in production.
Even the scientific and technical services sector is only at 9.1%, while the information sector is highest at 13.8%. This data is based on the recent Business Trends and Outlook Survey (BTOS).
How to interpret this data? My take: massive opportunities for finding new ways to incorporate AI and finding a competitive edge!

🌍 Global Agreement for AI Safety: A New Era Begins!
The U.S., U.K., and 16 other countries announced an agreement to make AI systems "secure by design." Is this the first major step toward AI safety regulations?
The non-binding document emphasizes AI safety, urging companies to prevent misuse and protect data. Here are some other major points from the announcement:
🌐 The U.S., U.K., and 16 other countries have united for AI security.

🚨S&P Global: AI and Cybersecurity are inseparable in the digital era
Major financial firm S&P Global just published a thought-provoking report that pivots the ideas of both securing AI and making AI for security.
Some of their insights:
AI has transformed cybersecurity, especially in threat detection.
The focus is now on leveraging AI for security and safeguarding AI itself.
Generative AI brings innovative solutions to security operations.
Addressing AI's security vulnerabilities is paramount.
Effective governance is key for AI's responsible and secure usage.
A crucial issue here is that AI can both produce threats and help to solve some of them. Definitely a must-read for anyone in cybersecurity!

🎬 Big news! Stable Video Diffusion released! 🎥
The same people who developed Stable Diffusion XL, Stability AI, are releasing their 📖 open-source📖 video generator! You could be months away from being able to generate full-length, high-quality films from home without leaving your desk!
This platform can generate short videos based on images. Free to all and can be licensed for commercial projects.
It looks quite demanding on system resources, yet it is still promising. I am a faithful user and fan of Stable Diffusion XL. If you're anything like me, you love open source for its potential and philosophy.
Will you be trying it?

Sports Illustrated busted for using fake AI writers!
Not sure if this story is funny or sad.
Several media outlets reported that Sports Illustrated, one of the most well-established sports magazines and websites in the USA, was caught using fake AI writers for several articles on their website.
They were busted when some internet detectives saw that one of the supposed writers of an article was in fact an AI-generated avatar that anyone could buy as a stock image. Turns out, the name of that writer, and those of several others, were AI-generated too.
SI denies that the articles were AI-generated and claims they are human-written. Still, it seems odd that they would not have used the authors’ real names rather than using AI. As you might imagine, staffers at the prestigious magazine were in an uproar, perhaps many fearing their current jobs may soon be replaced by AI.
